Running is a sport that can drop all-cause mortality by more than one-quarter.
Can you run your way to a longer life? Do you want to live longer (and with a better quality of life)? You may wish to go out for a jog. Okay, maybe not like the guy depicted above in the photograph, but researchers recently reported this encouraging news:
Any running volume is associated with a more than one-quarter (or a relative 27 percent) lower risk of all-cause mortality.
Let’s examine more closely what scientists recently reported in the British Journal of Sports Medicine. Not only did they find a drop in deaths by one-quarter (27 percent), but they also noted a near one-third (30 percent) reduction in the chances of death from cardiovascular causes as well as a 23 percent lower chance of dying from cancer.
