The Beams Save Lives — But THIS Saves More.
Why I Volunteer, Write, and Show Up Early — and How You Can Give Back Too

By night — and often before dawn — I try to heal something deeper.
I’m Michael Hunter, MD. I’m a cancer doctor in Seattle, a longtime volunteer, and a writer who’s come to believe that giving back might be the most powerful medicine of all.

🩷 What Giving Back Has Taught Me
- That volunteering isn’t charity — it’s connection.
- That writing isn’t just communication — it’s service.
- That waking up early to help someone else feels better than sleeping in.
- That sometimes, the smallest acts ripple the farthest.
